Terms of Engagement

Back of Beyond Mountain Biking NZ (“Back of Beyond”) requires that each of our customers reads and agrees with our terms and conditions before any bookings are made.

To book the Rough it in Luxury or High Country Experience Tours we require a non-refundable 10% deposit. On receipt of your deposit a place will be reserved on your specified tour. The balance must be paid no less than 30 days before the tour begins. Back of Beyond reserves the right to resell a tour space without notice if the final payment has not been made by the due date. Cancellations 14-30 days prior to departure will have 75% of the trip cost refunded. No refund will be offered if notification of cancellation is given less than 14 days before departure.

Back of Beyond reserves the right to alter or cancel any tour at any time at its discretion for any reason. Including insufficient bookings, adverse weather, navigational difficulties, or safety conditions. If trips are cancelled before the departure date, you will be given the option of a full refund or the rescheduling of your tour. There will be no refunds if trips have already departed. We strongly recommend that your personal travel insurance includes: trip cancellations, emergency evacuations, medical expenses, personal accident and baggage loss or damage as well as public liability.

Back of Beyond is aware that adventure tourism has an element of risk. We have endeavoured to minimize these risks as much as possible. You must agree to wear safety gear as directed, e.g. helmets, lifejackets. You are required (and agree) to follow the safety instructions of the guides at all times and respect equipment, property and the rights of others. Failure to do so may result in you being asked to leave the tour. You will accept such a request without hesitation. No refunds will be payable to any person who is asked to leave any tour for whatever reason. However in the event of any unforeseen circumstances, e.g. loss, damage, illness and accidents in remote places or theft, we accept no responsibility and will require you to sign a Liability Release Form before the trip departs. You will be required to pay for any additional expenses you incur during the tour.

The New Zealand High Country supports a fragile ecosystem. Back of Beyond has taken measures to ensure that our tours have minimal environmental impact. We ask you to co-operate with us, to preserve the integrity of the land.

Back of Beyond requires you to disclose any existing medical conditions that may affect the safety and well being of yourself or others on the tour.
Any legal action taken against Back of Beyond or any member of its staff must be through the New Zealand judicial system. You agree that the laws of New Zealand will apply.

LIABILITY RELEASE
Back of Beyond requires that each of our customers read and sign our liability release before starting any adventure. Please read carefully as you will be asked to sign a document to this effect on your arrival for your trip. If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask.

  • I am aware that taking part in this activity involves certain inherent risks, and that Back of Beyond has no control over this.
  • I understand that equipment or mechanical failure is an ever present risk when undertaking mountain bike tours.
  • I will use all equipment in a safe and proper manner and listen to all instructions and directions given.
  • I hereby assume all risks, injury, claims losses, or death and release Back of Beyond from all liability whatsoever.
  • Despite these risks I wish to take part in the activity.
  • I accept sole responsibility for my own safety and for the above risks.
  • I have read, understood and accept the above Terms of Engagement, including this Liability Release.
